Calori & Vanden-Eynden (C&VE) is an internationally-recognized, award-winning design firm specializing in the planning and design of signage, wayfinding, branded environments, identity, and user navigation systems.
C&VE is a creatively driven, design intensive firm and environmental graphic design is its passion. The firm‘s work is distinguished by its stylistic diversity, with each design solution tailored to the particular communication needs and formal context of each project. C&VE’s sensitivity to context—together with its team approach to design—yields creative, visually distinctive graphic solutions that successfully respond to the specific needs of each site and client.
C&VE views the client‘s involvement as a key ingredient of the design process, and indeed, views design activity as meaningless without it. With its team approach, C&VE also successfully builds consensus among multiple stakeholders with disparate interests in large, complex projects.
The firm purposely maintains a broad project mix, applying its talents to a wide range of facility and building types, including cultural, civic, commercial, educational, hospitality, retail, and transportation facilities. The firm‘s working philosophy is grounded in an interdisciplinary approach that creatively integrates functional graphic solutions within the built environment.
C&VE‘s principals, Ms. Chris Calori and Mr. David Vanden-Eynden, are Fellows of the Society for Environmental Graphic Design. Each has over 25 years’ experience in solving signage and environmental graphic design problems. The principals pioneered services of master planning signage programs for large-scale, phased-implementation sites, and of formulating signage policy guidelines to promote an owner’s interest in maintaining signage quality and equity over time and among many parties.
Culminating years of its expertise, C&VE literally wrote the book on EGD. Chris Calori’s highly acclaimed Signage and Wayfinding Design: A Complete Guide to Creating Environmental Graphic Design Systems has become the essential reference book for EGD professionals and educators.
